I'm with Slm. I've tried Swam-a-licious (medium level 1) probably a dozen times. I've tried different paths and tactics. I've gotten all the way to level 20 entering the screen, but die there. Can't seem to figure this one out. Please help.
Interesting, I didn't complete it that way. Mine was mostly a bunch of missle towers in the center. I actually tried doing it using your method and haven't been quite successful so far. Mind giving us a general build order?
Start with the 6 blasters that are blocking off pathways. This will force the creeps to go left, and also will kill the first wave.
Then place the two lasers, attach them to the vortex, and after that, you are pretty much set to do whatever you want...
You can add the laser at the top (and a fourth if you wish, remember to attach both to the vortex), or you can start building missiles, or you can start with the shock. You can choose to upgrade the lasers, or leave them and update the missiles and shock instead. Do not attatch anything else to the lower vortex. You don't want any missiles or blasters sucking up energy that could be going to lasers. Use the right hand vortex for other stuff if you wish, though that one won't absorb that much energy.
Hmm..I think the key was to not attach the missile towers to the vortex. I didn't realize how much energy they draw. Before I had creep starting to escape at about round 11 or so. This time they didn't and I didn't change anything else really.
This was a much more elegant solution then what I had.
Ok what the hell do I have to do to beat this lvl? The pic and method above does not work at all. Do you set the first 6 then the 2 laser then upgrade the laser? I have tried so many ways and nothing is working. The waves are getting too strong too fast for me to kill them.
I can't really imagine what your problem is, are you not attaching the lasers to the vortex? Because that's what makes this level so easy when you use this strategy. With JUST the two lasers you can get to level 8 without leaking anyone. You're telling me you can't figure out how to use $132 to add some towers and beat the level from this point?
Like I said, I don't understand what youy guys are doing wrong because I couldn't have made it any easier. Just throw down a shock and some missiles and you are basically done. And for not being able to beat the level with what is shown? You can beat it with LESS. Here, I just did it without even bothering to upgrade the lower lasers. And yes, of course I'm on Hardcore mode. Look at how much money I have left at the end. If you can't beat it with what I've shown just use it for something! Buy more missiles or lasers or shocks or anything!
I was able to get past level 1 and with your tips went back to previous easy levels and did much better. And now able to get to level 62 on endless it just takes some getting use to. I really like the yellow towers that slow down the creeps which is what I used heavily on the med lvl 1.
You really can't imagine what the problem is? Not cool dude. This is not as simple as you make it out to be... as a matter of fact if you don't lay the towers down in just the right order and spend each dollar in just the right way, you are screwed. Elysium you said, "I could not have made it any easier" if that is so then I assume you wrote the game, yes, no? If you did write the game, here is a bit of advice... don't belittle your customers by saying it could not be easier. I happen to love this game, play it every day, I've been struggling with this level for over a week, it's killing me and your screen shots although very helpful have yet to allow me to beat the level. Admit it... it's tough. You know what would be nice... some instructions. This game seems to be lacking in that department big time. I'll continue to play and enjoy the game but make no mistake, it's not easy. I really do know what I'm doing. I'm a 20 year veteran in the gaming industry, having been a developer on many award winning titles. I also teach game dev a national art collage, I have done quite well for myself in this business and know it well. I like your game because it's hard not "easy"<?xml:namespace prefix = o />
This thread seems to have slowed down lately, so maybe everyone has figured it out. For the benefit of those who haven't, I'll share my experience.
Being totally new to GD and GD:S, I had a really hard time beating this level, even after reading Elysium's tips. I finally figured it out and I think part of my problem was not knowing a few things:
Missile Towers really drain vortex energy with little to show for it
Laser towers can be "locked-down" starting at lvl 3 to face in one direction (double-tap)
The two lasers in the bottom-left don't need upgraded and probably shouldn't be upgraded in order to save both money and energy
There is no need to upgrade the vortex towers (at least, on this level)
So, it's just a matter of placing your green turrets, building two lasers in the bottom left after wave 1 and 2, then another in the top left during wave 3 (making sure to link them all to the bottom left vortex). Then, build a yellow turret and two missile turrets along the middle of the corridor the creeps travel down and upgrade the top left laser, missiles, and yellow turrets as money becomes available. Make sure to lock-down the laser when it becomes lvl 3 and don't upgrade the missiles past lvl 6 (tho, i'm not sure this matters). That's it! Most of you have probably figured this all out by now, but again, I thought I'd share my experience just in case it helps.
can't see pictures at work, but I would just like to add:
Lv7 Shock towers slow down creeps A LOT, works wonders with lasers. Red Missiles dont' really need to be attached to vortex towers, a better strategy is usually to just attach the laser towers to them. I think the main thing would be to focus on getting the missiles to lv 4 (when they start to auto-lock) and then focus on upgrading the shock tower to lv 7. After that you can then upgrade to lv 5 or lv6. I dont' remember for sure if this is how i beat this level. But thats my general rule of thumb, I'm sure i used it for this level as well
hi, I am stuck on medium level 1. Can somebody post a walkthrough, or better: post a YouTube video?
Thanks!

What mode are you playing because I've tried your method but am only making it to about wave 17...
No I am was saying you can not beat the level just with what was shown above. I have to add a lot of missiles and shocks.
This never worked for me. Maybe give a step by step and show us how this worked.
